Two weeks ago I exhibited at the Spring Green Art Fair in Wisconsin. It was a wonderful weekend, especially on Saturday. The weather was wonderful and my booth was nice and shaded. And, I sold stuff!
Here is a photos of the crowds on Saturday...
Here is a photo of my booth on Sunday.
On Sunday the booth looked much better than on Saturday because we had more time to set it up. Saturday morning was a bit crazy. Spring Green is about an hour from my house and at 6:30am we were about 5 miles from the art fair and my car overheated and died. Steam was coming out of the engine, it was gurgling, and was not looking good. We called AAA and another friend who was exhibiting,
Aimee Reid-Rice. Aimee picked my up while Julie stayed with the car. I unloaded Aimee's stuff, set-up my tent, then went to the mechanics with Aimee's car to get Julie and all my artwork. It was one of those days when I was glad to be in a small town because the mechanic said, "What's your booth number, I'll just stop by after I look at it." Unfortunately, it ended up being a blown head gasket and I had to get it towed into Madison to get repaired (thank goodness for AAA)! The car is fixed finally, but certainly all my sales from the art fair went into the car. UGH! Hopefully, I've paid my car-trouble-at-art-fair dues and won't have to go through that again. Anyway, we got the booth set-up by 9am, but just barely. It was a stressful morning and Julie and I just collapsed in our folding chairs most of the day. Fortunately, the booth stayed fairly busy most of Saturday and that made it all worthwhile.
The next art fair is July 29 in Appelton, WI at the Art in the Park. Come visit me if you are nearby!
